Trailer for new Trio Jean Paul CD

Trio Jean Paul is releasing a new CD true to the motto “sextets performed as piano trios” where the Trio plays both string sextets no. 1 and 2 op. 18 and 36 by Johannes Brahms in an arrangement for a piano trio. Theodor Kirchner created the arrangement while Brahms was still alive and wrote in a letter to Brahms in 1883: “I was truly relieved to learn that you seem to be not entirely unsatisfied with my arrangement of your sextets. […] In my opinion, trio players will regard these two works as a welcome gift.” Unfortunately, his prediction has not yet been fulfilled as these trio arrangements are now only featured in concert programmes on rare occasions. Trio Jean Paul succeeds in evoking the genius and superb creative achievement instilled in the trio arrangement. With their characteristically sensitive, highly musical and technically impeccable interpretation, ever focused on the rhetorical elements of the music, the trio is presenting a new recording that enthusiasts won’t want to miss.

The CD is being released under the Cavi-music label and is available in stores as of 13 November 2015.
