Thomas Zehetmair to tour North and South America

In the coming weeks, Thomas Zehetmair will be visiting the USA where he will once again join the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra as artistic partner. He will take the stage both as a soloist to perform Mozart’s violin concerto no. 3, then conduct Mendelssohn’s symphony no. 3 and even perform chamber music with Hindesmith’s string quartet no. 4.

Then it’s on to Brazil, South America. In São Paulo, Thomas Zehetmair will perform with the Orquestra Sinfônica do Estado de São Paulo. The project spans 7 concerts featuring 3 different programmes. He will be joined by none other than Heinz Holliger. This collaboration between the two celebrated musicians is sure to reach great musical heights. All the while, they will be passing the baton back and forth as Zehetmair conducts Carter’s oboe concerto with Holliger as a soloist and in the following concert, Holliger will take the conductor’s stand while Zehetmair interprets Bartók’s exceedingly challenging second violin concerto. Schubert, Mozart and Beethoven are also on the programme as are modern works by Carter and Ligeti. Audiences can look forward to witnessing Zehetmair’s indisputable expertise at work as well as his charismatic presence.
