Thomas Zehetmair takes the conductor’s stand in Hamburg

Prominent musicians will convene this week in Hamburger’s Laeiszhalle. Thomas Zehetmair will conduct the city’s Philharmonisches Staatsorchester to present a rich programme featuring Haydn, Beethoven and Carter. Heinz Holliger will take the part of the soloist in Carter’s oboe concerto whose original premiere he performed in 1987. Zehetmair and Holliger are a perfectly attuned team whose most recent performance on stage in September celebrated Thomas Zehetmair’s debut as headconductor of the Musikkollegium Winterthur. Thomas Zehetmair’s most recent solo performance of Mendelssohn’s violin concerto still remains fresh in the minds of Hamburg’s audiences. With the conductor’s baton in hand, he also leads the orchestra to new heights with his profound interpretations sure to delight audiences with unforgettable moments.
