Thomas Zehetmair makes his debuts at the Musikkollegium Winterthur

Beginning in the 2016/17 season, conductor and violinist Thomas Zehetmair will become headconductor at the Musikkollegium Winterthur. The collaboration will begin with two impressive concerts featuring works by Webern, Carter and Brahms to begin the season in September.

After 12 successful years as headconductor of the Royal Northern Sinfonia, Winterthur will be the new domain of the versatile Austrian. Numerous joint performances in recent years have shown the both the conductor and the orchestra are on the same page. The Musikkollegium Winterthur, having been founded in 1629, is one of Europe’s music institutes with the longest tradition . The internationally renowned orchestra presents programmes focusing on music of the Classical and Early Romantic era, but also 20th century works. With programmes offering plenty of variety from a wide range of eras, Thomas Zehetmair will take to the conductor’s stand in Winterthur, but also perform as a soloist. In addition to Debussy and Saint-Saens, Beethoven, Wagner, Reger, Hindemith and Liszt are also part of the programme. Audiences can look forward to exquisite, profound performances with unparalleled programmes and evocative interpretations.
