SWR Symphony Orchestra welcomes Tzimon Barto as artist in residence

This season, Tzimon Barto can be heard a total of 16 times as the artist in residence of the SWR Symphony Orchestra. The partnership begins on 11 November 2016 with his interpretation of Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G major in Dortmund and Mannheim and will then take the exceptional pianist and the orchestra on an extensive tour to Spain. Further concerts will follow in January 2017 where Tzimon Barto will present not one, but three pieces at each: Rihm’s 2nd Piano Concerto, Strauss’ Burleske and Mozart’s Rondo in A major. For many years, Tzimon Barto has closely collaborated with Christoph Eschenbach who will conduct the concerts in November and January – mere glances and gestures are enough to unleash moments of surpassing artistic expression. In March 2017, Tzimon Barto can be heard performing Beethoven’s 4th Piano Concerto under Jakub Hrusa, the new chief conductor of the Bamberg Symphony. Audiences can look forward to a musical partnership that is as inspiring as it is refreshing. Together with the orchestra’s musicians, Tzimon Barto will be performing Dvorak’s Piano Quintet. His refreshing, unconventional interpretations and remarkable stage presence make Tzimon Barto one of the most sought-after pianists of today.
