New CD of Tzimon Barto

Last month the label Capriccio published Tzimon Barto´s new CD featuring the Goldberg variations BWV 988 in the Busoni-version as well as the Choral Prelude „Nun komm’ der Heiden Heiland“ BWV 659. This version of the Goldberg variations by Ferruccio Busoni (written in 1914) contains some shortenings compared to the original version, that make it more adequate for the todays listener, as well as some stylistic ornaments. Like always Tzimon Barto shows his typical and fascinating way of interpretation marked by his incredible immagination and sensibility. He places special importance on the silence in the beginning of the piece and sets huge contrast to that in the vivid variations. The recording is in every sense worth listening to: a great piece played by a great pianist.
