Mario Venzago is spending almost the entire month of May in Baden-Württemberg, with brief trips to Bavaria and Austria for concerts.
He has already been in Reutlingen for several days now, preparing a program featuring works by Schubert and Beethoven, as well as Elzbieta Sikora’s flute concerto, with the local Württemberg Philharmonic Orchestra and Ana de la Vega. Concerts will then take place this week in Ansbach and Kempten, and next Monday in Reutlingen. On Saturday, there will also be a special treat: a public rehearsal followed by a conversation with composer Elzbieta Sikora.
Immediately following that, rehearsals will begin with the Bodensee Philharmonie in Konstanz, with which Mario Venzago—supported by musicians from the Stella University of Music’s symphony orchestra and the Kebyart Saxophone Quartet—will perform works by Gershwin and Ravel, as well as Brett Dean’s “Water Music for Saxophone Quartet and Chamber Orchestra” in Konstanz and Feldkirch.
