Gustav Rivinius is awarded the Kunstpreis of Saarland

Saarland’s Ministry for Education and Culture is awarding Gustav Rivinius this year’s Kunstpreis. Minister of Education and Culture Commerçon congratulated the award winner declaring: “Both his work as a musician and professor are marked by outstanding achievement“. Since 1959, the Kunstpreis of Saarland has been awarded every two years for exceptional artistic achievement in the areas of music, literature and fine arts. Since his breakthrough as the winner of the International Tschaikowsky Competition in 1990, he has been considered one of the most sought-after cellists in the world. He has nonetheless remained true to his roots choosing Saarland as his artistic domain. He holds a professorship at the University of Music Saarbrücken and from there travels the globe to perform world-class concerts. “Gustav Rivinius is firmly established in this music scene and represents Saarland with his surpassing artistic brilliance” observes the jury from the Ministry for Education and Culture.
