Andreas Staier brings Iberian flair to Ludwigshafen

Andreas Staier is known for his well-conceived and carefully selected programs. He proves this on January 30th in Dijon and again on January 31st at the BASF Feierabendhaus in Ludwigshafen performing Spanish-Portuguese baroque music with the Orquesta Barroca Casa da Música. The program includes works by Domenico Scarlatti, as well as the only two surviving harpsichord concertos by the Portuguese composer Carlos Seixas, works by Charles Avison, William Corbett’s “Alla Portugesa” concerto and “La musica notturna delle strade di Madrid”, Luigi Boccherini’s reminiscences of his adoptive home in Madrid. There is no style of music and no country of the Baroque in which Andreas Staier does not feel at home with his extensive historical knowledge, precise harpsichord technique and secure musical instinct, thus taking his audience away into bygone times.
