Andreas Staier releases album with original compositions

Andreas Staier’s new album Méditation is being released today by Alpha Classics. On this record he not only interprets pieces by Louis Couperin, Johann Jakob Froberger and Johann Sebastian Bach, but has also immortalised six of his own compositions for harpsichord under the name Anklänge. Andreas Staier himself explains the origin of these works: “Anklänge, my six pieces for harpsichord, arose from several conversations I had with the composer Brice Pauset about what it means to compose in our time and, above all, what it means to compose for historical instruments.”
The CD will be presented on February 25th as part of a special concert by the Johannes Wasmuth Society in Oberwinter, where Andreas Staier will also perform parts of the recording live.
