Andreas Staier is awarded the Bach Medal of the City of Leipzig

We are delighted to announce today the recipient of this year’s Bach Medal of the City of Leipzig and warmly congratulate Andreas Staier on this honour!
Due to the value that his interpretations of Bach’s works, which often have a reference character, offer his audience and the musical canon, Andreas Staier was chosen this year to join the ranks of names such as Sir Andras Schiff, Angela Hewitt and Ton Koopman.
The Bach Medal will be awarded by the Mayor of Leipzig, Burkhard Jung, and the Director of the Bach Archive, Peter Wollny, following Andreas Staier’s recital at this year’s Bachfest Leipzig on 14 June.
