Reinhold Friedrich on tour with the Neue Philharmonie Westfalen

Reinhold Friedrich starts the New Year off with a bang. With the Neue Philharmonie Westfalen, he will tour Germany performing a total of six concerts. The programme will also feature a special work that has become Friedrich’s signature piece: The trumpet concerto by Bernd Alois Zimmermann from 1953 entitled “Nobody knows de trouble I see”. The work was created in response to the civil rights movement during the race riots in the USA. In his music, Zimmermann makes it clear what the title suggests. With jazz elements and Afro-American spiritual interludes that he balances with other musical elements such as neo-classicism or the twelve-tone technique, he makes a meaningful statement about the political situation at the time. The multifaceted nature of the music and its technical intricacies place the highest demands on the soloist, which the exceptional trumpeter does justice to without exception. He captivates his audience with extraordinary musicality and as always, produces breathtaking tones with his trumpet. The concerts promise an exceptional start to an exciting musical year in 2017!
