This title refers to a work by G. Ph. Telemann, who composed several concerti for unusual combinations of solo instruments, such as his concerto for recorder and viola da gamba or trumpet and violin, which are among the pieces featured in this program. As a special highlight, the program also includes Bach’s Second Brandenburg Concerto.

Program 2: Antonio Vivaldi: Concerti da Camera

The Freitagsakademie is dedicating itself to the rich body of works known as Concerti da Camera by the great Italian Baroque composer Antonio Vivaldi. These ensemble concerts, performed in a chamber music setting, combine virtuosic solo grandeur with the intimacy of chamber music and the sonic richness of an orchestra. The various instruments act as equal musical partners in this high-Baroque round of instrumental pieces. Vivaldi’s chamber concertos are thus perfectly suited for the Freitagsakademie, an ensemble of top-tier soloists.
