Claire Huangci – Piano Heroines

Claire Huangci’s new album Piano Heroines is released today on Alpha. As the title suggests, it is dedicated to female composers who, like herself, were based partly in Germany and partly in the USA. Clara Wieck, Fanny Hensel, Amy Beach, and Florence Price all defied the obstacles of their time and circumstances and are now receiving more recognition than ever before.
Claire Huangci herself says of the composers: “In their music, we hear not only history. We hear transformation. Heroines is my way of listening to them and adding my voice.”
