The performance of three solo works in one evening makes for an unusual start to the year. With Mozart’s Rondo Concerto in A major, Rihm’s Piano Concerto no. 2 and Strauss´ Burleske for the Piano and Orchestra not to mention a tour of Spain, Barto continues where he left off. The press has praised him as a storyteller on the piano with his interpretation of Ravel’s piano concerto in G major. In January, Tzimon Barto once again demonstrates that he is one of the greats – his musical tales spanning a wide range of stylistic epochs are characterised by unparalleled dramatic expression as well as an enormous range of tonal colour. Particularly his performance of Rihm’s 2nd Piano Concerto – whose original premier he performed at the Salzburg Festival in 2014 and which is dedicated to him – promises to be an unforgettable concert experience.
