“Origins” – New Album by Jean-Paul Gasparian

Today, Jean-Paul Gasparian’s new album ‘Origins’, which is dedicated to Armenian music, is released on naïve. These often forgotten sounds have a deep meaning for the young Frenchman, as they take him back to his own family roots. Jean-Paul Gasparian has selected works that have their origins in Armenia’s folklore heritage. They contain elements of folk songs and traditional melodies. Composers included are Arno Babadjanian, Aram Khachaturian und Komitas Vardapet as well as Gasparian`s father, Gérard Gasparian. 

The album is full of contrasts: Melancholy and joie de vivre, sadness and dance – tensions that create a great charm when playing as well as listening.
