The Cello Biennale in Amsterdam is an entirely unique festival dedicating nine days to the cello. After premiering exactly 10 years ago, the festival still remains true to its vibrant, unconventional spirit and has since presented outstanding cellists every two years with extraordinary repertoire from cello literature. Of course, Julian Steckel will be there to offer not one, but two performances on the stage. In a recital, he will play Bach’s cellosuite no. 6 in D major and alongside Amsterdam’s Sinfonietta, he will play five pieces in folk style. His graceful mastery of even the most difficult technical passages, his vibrant interpretations combined with his profoundly emotional approach make him one of the most prominent cellists of our time. A delightful musical experience awaits audiences at the international festival in Amsterdam.
