Tianwa Yang – Artiste étoile!

Violinist Tianwa Yang is the Artiste étoile of the 2026 Mozartfest Würzburg, and the festival finally kicks off on Friday: In the grand opening concert, the violinist will perform Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No. 2 with the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg.

In a total of thirteen concerts, the Mozartfest presents a comprehensive overview of Tianwa Yang’s artistic work. She will perform as a virtuoso soloist in solo concertos by Mozart, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, and Prokofiev with renowned and local orchestras such as the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, and the Würzburg Philharmonic Orchestra. In the MozartLabor, she opens up diverse perspectives on music. She also bridges the gap between classical works and contemporary pieces through chamber music, for example with the world premiere of Jörg Widmann’s Jupiter Etude. Tianwa Yang treats her audience to brief artistic interludes in lunchtime concerts featuring music by J.S. Bach and Ysaÿe. Together with her duo partner Nichola Rimmer, Tianwa Yang performs all of Beethoven’s violin sonatas.
Tianwa Yang invites her audience to experience music as a living dialogue between the past, present, and future.
