Radu Lupu, a piano legend, in Leipzig and Vienna
Joined by the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig led by conductor Riccardo Chailly, audiences will have the chance to witness yet another extraordinary performance by Radu Lupu on 01, 02 and 3rd October in Leipzig as well as on 05 October in Vienna. His modest, reserved manner vanishes as soon as the great pianist takes his seat at the grand piano and begins to play. The pianist, who already enjoys legendary status, demonstrates his finesse in his astute playing and artistic interpretation, which are perfectly complemented by his exceedingly sensitive musicality. In his current programme with the Gewandhausorchester, he delivers an outstanding performance of Mozart’s piano concerto no. 21 KV 467. The cheerful work in C major with substantial orchestral involvement belongs to the symphonic piano concertos – a class of piano concertos established by Mozart characterised by its unique orchestration, use of the solo instrument as well as the structure.
