Martin Stadtfeld – Handel/Brahms

Frank Siebert writes in Fono Forum about Stadtfeld’s CD with Handel arias arranged for piano:

“Stadtfeld […] plunges into the 19th century, the golden era of the piano, when the great pianists were also important composers and arrangers of works from the past. As a composer, Stadtfeld continues in the tradition of Liszt, Friedman, Godowsky or Rachmaninov […] The respectful and loving way in which Stadtfeld has arranged the music, illuminating the beauty of the arias through his own harmonious and rhythmic coloring, or enriching them with idioms of other composers like Beethoven or Brahms, lets the individual numbers grow together into one great whole.”
