Julian Steckel: Term in Heidelberg ends with a superlative

To end his second successful concert season as artist in residence with the Heidelberger Philharmoniker, Julian Steckel will be presenting a special concert in Heidelberg on 28 June. The celebrated cellist can be witnessed for the first time both as soloist and conductor. He will play Haydn’s Cello Concerto in C major (written around 1761) and will then conduct Haydn’s Symphony No. 80 in d minor (written around 1784). His subtle musicality combined with his brilliant expressiveness make Julian Steckel’s performance truly unique. On the cello and at the conductor’s stand, he skilfully guides the orchestra through Haydn’s musical realm while reviving a bit of early Viennese classical music.
