Isabelle van Keulen visits the Far North

Isabelle van Keulen will perform Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto no. 1 on December 7th with Andrew Manze and the Oslo Philharmonic in the Norwegian capital. The premiere of this work took place in 1923, delayed seven years after its composition because no capable soloist equal to the high demands of the work could be found. Isabelle van Keulen however masters its pitfalls and highlights Prokofiev’s ambivalence as an elegant melodic with classic roots and provocative enfant terrible of his time. With her great musicality, humorous interpretation, and despite the cold temperatures she warms the hearts of her Scandinavian audience.
