Francesco Piemontesi releases new CD: Claude Debussy – Préludes

On 23rd October, the latest CD from Francesco Piemontesi featuring Debussy’s Préludes livres I & II will be released. With his ever insightful and technically brilliant interpretation, Piemontesi once again succeeds in presenting the works of the French composer complete with all its rich facets. His inspiration for this recording is drawn from an original version including numerous musical remarks from pianist Marcel Clampi, who closely collaborated with Debussy.

The works were created between 1909 and 1913 and the total of 24 preludes each bear a title far removed from the world of music, unmistakably characteristic of Debussy, the impressionist whose conveyance of perceptions and moments transcends both form and traditional approaches to composition. In his writings, he observes: “Music begins where words are powerless to express. Music is made for the inexpressible, and I should like it to seem to rise from the shadows and indeed sometimes return to them.“
