CD-Release: Martin Stadtfeld with Arrangements of Folk Songs

Today Martin Stadtfeld’s new solo album Deutsche Volkslieder (German Folk Songs) is being released, with arrangements of works that have existed for centuries. Martin Stadtfeld adds his own thoughts to the melodies, which awaken memories in many people, plays with the traditional material and creates new ways of hearing it.

The CD is published by Sony Classical and can be heard on spotify or in excerpts on youtube.

About a concert with the corresponding programme, the press recently wrote:
“It was a colourful arch of images that Stadtfeld created in the minds of the listeners. He put the unsung text of the folk songs into sound. Sometimes he caressed lovely melodies out of the instrument, sometimes he relied on the full volume of the grand piano as in the final chords to “An der Saale hellem Strande”, the closing point of the folk music session.”
